Sony Losses vs my Speech.

Sony wasn't too happy about my Leipzig Keynote predicting they won't make money from the PS3. The data I had came from DFC Intelligence (professional analysts), and I made that very clear before I presented it. (I covered a LOT of topics.)

The head of Sony just made a statement.

http://www.mcvuk.com/news/31607/Stringer-PS3-business-model-inferior-to-Wiis

"Console won’t recoup losses ‘in my lifetime’, admits Sony boss"

"Sony CEO Howard Stringer has admitted that PS3 hardware sales aren’t ever likely to recoup the $3.3 billion losses the machine has already occurred."

You can see the speech (another entry on this blog list.)

Well I guess blu-ray is an honest name, because the lasers were different?

Blu-Ray wasn't new technology. It just stores more data of the same kind on the same size and appearance of disc, sold in a somewhat smaller box. HD-DVD was a more honest name for it, because that's what it is: higher-definition (resolution / pixel count) digital video.

The Japanese like the XBOX 360 a lot, and so does Europe. What other countries is the 360 popular in?

Although Sony has lost a significant amount from the PS3, I thinkit was a calculated loss that Sony was willing to take.

For one, the PS3 is the only system to utilize nex-gen system technology (IE the Cell Processor and Blu-Ray).

Blu-Ray:
Sony was the biggest backer of this technology and since HD-DVD was already in the market Sony had to make a move, however costly, to showcase the technology and ineveitably win the Blu-ray & HD-DVD battle. In the short run Sony has incurred losses from this however it has solidified steady and almost monopolistic growth.

The IBM-Toshiba-Sony Cell Processor integration also was to work the same way as bluray, but somewhat backfired on them since there weren't many developers who could code with the chipset and fully utilize its power.

Sony may have incurred a short-term loss in this console trinity war, but I think it has become a calculated short-term loss for a greater long-term future for the Playstation brand along with Sony and its stakeholders (IBM-Toshiba included)

Hey! This site says that the spot in 7-Up comes from the inventor who had red eyes, because he was albino.

Actually I just tried Mick & Mack in Gens and it wasn't so satisfying. It is better on a CRT tv and with the real genesis. but they don't make those anymore, and plus I'm not 11 years old anymore so ...

Thanks for making Global Gladiators. I've been playing that one recently. I like how in those games you made for the Genesis, when you turn your character to face left or right, the screen jolts a bit. It even does that in Terminator CD!

Today's consoles are all the same anyway! They got equal number of colors, the same sound output, a similar number of buttons on the controllers... you only need one, maybe even none! Since PCs are just as good. And since ingenuity and creativity is impossible now in the industry, I mean all the best kind of games were already developed in the past, so all you really need is a good set of emulators for your PC.
